Kidney function tests are crucial diagnostic tools used to assess the health and performance of the kidneys. In Nigeria, the prevalence of kidney disease has been on the rise due to factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and infectious diseases, making these tests increasingly important for early detection and management. Types of Kidney Function Tests Several tests are commonly used to evaluate kidney function. These include: 1. Serum Creatinine Test: Measures the level of creatinine in the blood, an indicator of kidney efficiency. High levels suggest impaired kidney function. 2. Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) Test: Assesses the amount of nitrogen in the blood that comes from urea, a waste product of protein metabolism. Elevated BUN levels can indicate reduced kidney function. 3.
